Students in the Literature for All of Us program had a chance to visit the beautiful Harold Washington Library. We took a tour of the Children's Library as well as the YOU Media center just for teens! Students received library cards and checked out some interesting books and movies for themselves and their babies.
We celebrated the end of Multicultural Week with an assembly. Students performed dance, read personal vignettes and poetry, and sampled Chinese pastry.
Day 4 of Multicultural Week focused on the experiences of Mexican-American immigrants. Students viewed the film, Under the Same Moon, a film about a mother and son, separated by time and place.
Day 2 of Multicultural Week takes a look at baseball legend and hero Jackie Robinson. Students viewed the film 42 and wrote mini movie reviews focusing on the historical and cultural importance of the events surrounding Major League Baseball's first African American player in the modern era.
